Adolescent Immunization Action Week

April 4-8, 2023 is Adolescent Immunization Action Week (AIAW). AIAW is a yearly observance highlighting the importance of adolescent immunizations by urging healthcare providers and parents to take action by getting their adolescents up to date on their vaccines. Adolescent well visits and immunization rates declined dramatically during COVID-19. Now is the time to make sure adolescents are caught up on recommended vaccines. Following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Recommended Immunization Schedule is the best way to protect and prevent adolescents and young adults from getting sick and missing out on activities that are important to them.

The routine vaccination schedule for adolescents includes:

  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine
  • Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY)
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine
  • Influenza (flu) vaccine
  • COVID-19
